Dr. Barbara King examines why we care so deeply about our furry, scaly, and most of all irresistible friends in the animal world. And Gordon Grice introduces us to some amazing and fascinating true stories of encounters with wildlife. Barbara King has studied monkeys in Kenya and various apes in captive settings to advance her thesis that humans and animals have deeper emotional connections than previously thought. She is Chancellor Professor of Anthropology at The College of William and Mary, and is the author of the recently released Being With Animals. In his funny and fascinating book, Deadly Kingdom, Gordon Grice makes it clear we are not necessarily on top of the food chain. Today he shares remarkable tales of life in the wild, from the menacing, to the beautiful, to the gory and downright disturbing.
