Journalist Jonathan Green gained rare entrance into the shadow-land of the Himalayas to examine the lengths we will go to fight oppression and achieve freedom. And Kurt Hoelting takes us inside his yearlong car-free adventure from the San Juan Islands.
Jonathan Green is an award winning author and journalist who examines the enduring true story of a Buddhist nun whose life was taken as she tried to gain her freedom from Chinese occupied Tibet. He brings a firsthand account of the plight of the Tibetans in his book Murder in the High Himalaya.
As a personal response to the challenge of climate change, Kurt Hoelting made a commitment in 2008 to spend the year car-free, and explore the riches within a 60 mile radius of his home. He documents his year of wilderness exploration, conservation, and contemplation in his book The Circumference of Home: One Man’s Yearlong Quest for a Radically Local Life.
